This meeting was the first of the new Board of Directors and I welcomed the new members, Dr. Henrik Öhman, Prof. Jürg Schiffman, Prof. Davide Ziviani, Prof. Sotirios Karellas, in their new capacity.
Apart from the usual topics on the agenda, the highlight was the update on the starting of the activities of the KCORC advocacy group on Thermal Energy Harvesting. We are now in contact with other organizations that are active at European level, namely the European Turbine Network and EU Turbines. We are learning from them and plannig our future cooperation.
Our activities with respect to contributions to EU initiatives, policies, legislation and, connected to these, R&D funding are just starting. We would like to contribute to Roadmaps, Directives, Regulations, Decisions, European Parliament reports or resolutions if related to the reduction of CO2 emissions as far as thermal energy harvesting (or waste heat recovery) is concerned. We might also possibly take part in European Commission Expert Groups.
As a first formal but still important step, we registered KCORC at the EU Transparency Register and from now on, we will be allowed to participate to the mentioned EU activities.
This is it for now. We will keep you posted on this and the other activities promoted by the board. Stay tuned!
Piero Colonna, KCORC Board Chairman
