Installations

The cumulative installed capacity of ORC power plants has been growing at a sustained rate starting from the first years of the new millennium. The current cumulative installed capacity is well over 2000 MWe and, since recently, close to 100 units are commissioned every year [1].

The number of manufacturers is increasing, and global companies of conventional power equipment are entering the market, together with several new dynamic enterprises. Since not all of these companies are willing to provide exhaustive information about their installed units and their commissioned projects, it is difficult to track precisely the current and the new installations. Information on the power plants listed in Ref. [1], which has been received directly from companies through emails or personal conversation, has been carefully reviewed. A map of stationary ORC power plants installations can be found at http://orc-world-map.org/ [2]. In this case the information is possibly less accurate because it has been collected in many instances from websites.
